I need an answer to this immediately, please! Court question?
So I have been working my job for a little over six months, and through it all, I have been trying to get the Attorney General to garnish my wages for child support. For the longest time I received letters from them asking for my work address and telephone number. I replied to these a couple of times before finally deciding to call the office because it wasn't a problem with the mail. All they told me was that there was no address on file for my place of employment, and so several times on the phone I told them the address and phone number as well. I kept receiving the letters from them, and finally received a court summons. I was finally told by someone at the Attorney General that they had been receiving a negative answer from my employer, saying that I did not work there. I finally found out that my employer did not do employment verification and that I would have to come into the office myself to get the form of proof. I finally got the proof and sent in the form to the Attorney General, and now my wages are being garnished. However, I am still being asked to come to the court date. Me and the mother of the child just want the money to keep flowing and not go to court about it, and she obviously does not want me to go to jail, causing her to stop receiving support money. So me and the mother completely agree on the amount of money and that we wish to avoid a disruption in payments. A few people I know insist that they are trying to get me into court specifically to send me to jail, I personally don't see how that would help anyone, but I really know nothing about it. I have the option to hire a mediator, but she wants 450.00 and I think the court fees would be less and I could set up a payment plan. I am basically just wondering if it seems like they are intent on sending me to county. If they are, I need to go with the mediator somehow, and if they are not then the court. If anyone has any idea what I should do, please, please, help me. Thank you...
