What's your favorite American classic?

I have read many of the "classics" by writers from other countries, but very little American literature. I have read To Kill a Mockingbird, The Bell Jar, Catch-22, Death of a Salesman, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, Catcher in the Rye...and maybe a few others that I can't remember. What is your favorite classic American novel?
