Can a company come after your business assests if you are in collections?
My husband is running his own computer business, and we are planning on getting a DBA next week, however I am very nervous about the fact that he has numerous fraudulent medical bills on his credit report that have gone to collections. because we are aware that creditors can have your wages garnished, he has not been on any of our bank accounts. We are wondering if that same rule applys to having his own business, even if the actual bank account is in my name. Can a creditor still get a hold of the money he has made from the business? He said he had been threatened before to have his wages garnished but it never happened. We had the creditors calling non-stop for about 2 weeks and then for the past 6 months we havent recieved any calls. we just want to make sure that by getting a DBA we are not advertising to the creditors that we have money coming in for them to take...
