How should I approach reading "One flew over the cuckoo's nest" by Ken Kesey?

I came across this book and decided to buy it because I was interested in mental health. This is not for an English class. I just want to know how should I approach to reading this book? PLEASE ANSWER WITHOUT RUINING THE BOOK FOR ME BECAUSE I HAVE ONLY READ THE FIRST PAGE SO FAR.
