How to be good with special needs kids?

I'm volunteering at a camp for kids with special needs for the next two weeks. I'll be working most closely with a nine year old child with down syndrome as he goes through the activities. I have experience babysitting, but I'm not the best with young kids. What are some tips on how I can be fun and helpful for him so he has a good experience at camp? Thanks (:
